Meet the Crew

Meet the crew

Three characters. Three ways into a difficult conversation.

Maverick, Daisy, and Trixie help us talk about OCD, intrusive thoughts, trichotillomania, and other BFRBs in ways that feel human, clear, and less intimidating.

They are awareness guides, not clinicians. The crew helps make room for understanding through family stories, plain language, and animated examples. They do not diagnose, provide treatment, or represent every person’s experience.

Who leads what

Each character has a clear role.

Their personalities overlap, but their topics do not. That helps every story keep the right point of view.

Maverick supports

He welcomes people in, asks curious questions, and stays beside Daisy or Trixie when a topic feels heavy.

Daisy explores OCD

She leads conversations about intrusive thoughts, doubt, compulsions, avoidance, rumination, and uncertainty.

Trixie shares the BFRB view

She leads conversations about trichotillomania, pulling urges, triggers, setbacks, shame, and self-compassion.

The steady sidekick

Maverick

Maverick is the warm, curious pup at the heart of What’s the Trich. He does not pretend to have every answer. He listens, asks questions, and stays close when a conversation feels difficult.

He can support Daisy or Trixie, but he never speaks over their experiences. His job is to make the first step feel friendlier and remind us that understanding often begins with simply staying present.

Warm  •  Curious  •  Encouraging

“Tiny paws. Big backup.”

The thoughtful voice of OCD and uncertainty

Daisy

Daisy helps us show what OCD can feel like beyond the stereotypes: unwanted thoughts, repeated questions, the urge to check or avoid, and the exhausting search for certainty.

She is thoughtful, reflective, and quietly brave. Her stories do not offer false reassurance or promise perfect certainty. They show that a difficult thought does not define the person having it.

Thoughtful  •  Reflective  •  Quietly brave

“I don’t have to feel completely sure to keep going.”

Trixie with black hair, a gray beanie, round glasses, a pink hoodie, and black pants

The creative voice of trichotillomania and BFRBs

Trixie

Trixie brings boldness, humor, and a lived-experience perspective to conversations about pulling urges, triggers, setbacks, shame, and self-compassion.

She is practical, expressive, and imperfect. Her stories make room for messy days without making anyone feel broken or reducing a person to a symptom.

Creative  •  Resilient  •  A little sassy

“Perfect was never the assignment.”

How they work together

A crew with purpose, not just personalities.

Every character-led story follows the same basic promises.

01 · Topic leads matter

The right voice stays centered

Daisy leads OCD stories. Trixie leads trichotillomania and BFRB stories. Maverick supports without taking over.

02 · Awareness without shame

No one becomes the punchline

Humor can make a subject easier to approach, but never at the expense of the person living through it.

03 · Plain language first

Clear enough for real families

We explain difficult experiences without sounding like a clinical textbook or talking down to kids and teens.

See the crew in action

The characters open the door. The conversation is the point.

Explore our awareness stories, learn the language behind the experiences, or follow along as the crew takes on the myths and misunderstandings surrounding OCD and BFRBs.

What’s the Trich shares lived family experience and awareness. It is not therapy, diagnosis, or medical advice.
